If you think a plane ride across the country is a big deal, imagine traveling 8000 miles by horse across the country and back! That’s exactly what Bernice Ende is doing, and she is wintering over right in Fort Edward, NY!
Join us at Prestwick Chase on January 22nd, 7pm to hear Bernice Ende talk about her inspiring travels on horeseback with two Norwegian Fjord horses. Ms. Ende, 60, who calls herself “the old lady long rider,” is in the middle of her 2 1/2 year international journey with her two horses. Ms. Ende has explored 25,000 miles on horseback over the last 10 years.

Ms. Ende told The Glens Falls Chronicle, “I so love my life now. It’s the surprise of everything. I feel like I am the luckiest woman in the world. I don’t have a lot and I so appreciate people, and simple things, like dandelion greens for supper and clean water for a bath in a stock tank.”
She said she taught classical ballet for 25 years in northwest Montana, her home base where she has a log cabin and 20 acres up in the mountains. She as ridden 2,450 miles, averaging 100 to 150 miles a week on this trip. She travels back roads mostly, and doesn’t carry a cellphone. “It’s a false sense of security,” she said. “I just can’t do it.”
