Year-round the region offers fine home grown theater including the city’s Homemade Theater and other regional troupes producing dramatic, comedic and musical performances.  Additional events take place at the Saratoga Springs City Center, Skidmore College, and other locations.

Museums/Interpretive Centers

Saratoga Springs is the site of  the National Museum of Racing and the National Museum of Dance. Neighboring Ballston Spa hosts the National Bottle Museum.  Other venues include the New York State Military Museum, The Children’s Museum at Saratoga, Saratoga County History Center and Historical Society Saratoga Springs’ museums are open year round with interesting changing exhibits. The Harness Hall of Fame is open seasonally.

The Saratoga Springs Urban Cultural Park offers guided walking tours, exhibits and videos to give you an orientation to the city. Minutes away you will find the Saratoga National Historical Park, General Phillip Schuyler House and the Saratoga Monument recreating the Battle of Saratoga, known as the turning point of the American Revolution.

Recreation

The historic Saratoga Race Course is open for exclusive thoroughbred racing each afternoon from late July through Labor Day. World class polo matches also take place in Saratoga during the summer.

Winters offer downhill and cross-country skiing a short drive from Prestwick Chase, as are ice skating rinks, public swimming pools, golf courses, bowling alleys and horseback riding stables. Saratoga Lake is located four miles southeast of the city of Saratoga Springs. The Lake is best known for sailing, outstanding bass fishing, water skiing, ice fishing and boating. A public boat launch as well as marinas and fishing guide services are available.

Shopping

Numerous specially boutiques and factory outlets are located throughout the region. The Wilton Mall is located just minutes from Prestwick Chase. There are many other smaller malls in the county, as well as quaint shopping in the central business district of downtown Saratoga Springs.
